British Politics is failing the Country. It has been for some considerable time and certainly since the 2008 Recession. Austerity made the poor suffer. The Poor depended on public services that were slashed. Brexit and Neoliberalism, appealed to those that had suffered, hood winked into thinking it was the Eu´s fault. Whereas the 2% of Government expenditure (37p per day per person) actually ploughed more money into the UK, with subsidies for farmers, keeping food and drink prices down, and grants to regional development areas, like S Wales and Cornwall’s £700m. There was and never will be, a similar financial assistance from Whitehall. In addition there was no need to close police stations, courts, libraries, youth centres, fire stations, lay off council workers. The Great Recession showed in the 30’s that if people are made redundant, add them to a public sector workforce, build public infrastructures, their wages go back into the economy and recovery is inevitable. All austerity does is stifle demand and hence supply and the economy stagnates. Of course the Conservatives would not agree to conserve what they have, Conservatism is anti public services and survival of the fittest. In other words, no real need for government because you do not want anything to govern , just leave it all to private so called enterprise where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. However, unhappiness with life and prospects breeds contempt, and people’s minds get bitter and twisted. They listen to extremists and conspiracy theorists. A lot of people just switch off in depression and can no longer be bothered, just make the most of daily life. This is as good as it gets. Another factor of course is the brainwashing sources, owned by the rich, controlled by the powerful. Never mind the facts this is the story. Make the headlines as sensational as possible to get the viewers, the readers, indoctrinate them with propaganda not the truth.
